MEIKO Group: Outstanding Performance in 2011

The Offenburg site, which houses the company’s head office and primary production facilities, chalked up an order intake of 166 million euros (up by 14 percent year-on-year) and a turnover of 160 million euros (also up by 14 percent). A total of 1,074 employees contributed to these results. Dishwashing systems were the primary impetus behind this favourable development – orders were up by more than 19 percent – while cleaning and disinfection appliances once again exceeded their remarkable prior-year results in the domestic market. Sharp gains were also recorded in the company’s overall domestic and export business. With a 9 percent increase in domestic business and an 18 percent increase in the company’s export business, the figures speak for themselves. The bulk of the export growth came from European countries other than Germany and from the USA. MEIKO distributed its products in more than 90 countries worldwide and maintains its own subsidiaries in 11 countries.

Launched at the end of 2009, the M-iQ generation of conveyor dishwashers continued to enjoy enormous success. The M-iQ series has consistently impressed customers with its significantly lower operating costs, superb environmental credentials and consistently hygienic results, and its performance in 2011 was no exception. The positive market response was strikingly illustrated by unit sales growth of more than 50 percent over the prior year.

The goal of minimising resources will continue to be one of the key focal points of the company’s development work in the year ahead. As well as saving energy, this task also involves reducing the use of water and chemicals. MEIKO’s portfolio of products and services is characterised by continuity and innovation. One recent example of our capacity for innovation is an integrated water treatment technology that saves time and effort in the restaurant and catering business by eliminating the need to polish glassware by hand. In addition, MEIKO will soon be offering pass-through and undercounter warewashers with the novel AirConcept system of waste air heat recovery – a system that cuts the appliances’ already low operating costs even further and reduces their environmental impact.
MEIKO is the only manufacturer of warewashing technology to have received the Environmental Technology Prize from the German federal state of Baden-Württemberg in the category of ‘Technology To Reduce, Treat and Separate-Out Emissions’. The prize was awarded to MEIKO’s M-iQ technology in recognition of its groundbreaking approach within the industry.
The New Year began with order book rates up 17 percent on the previous year, which will help ensure good levels of capacity utilisation. The company’s business expectations for 2012 are positive. This was reflected in the announcement of an investment programme totalling more than 10 million euros which includes the construction of a new full-scale production facility at the company’s Offenburg site.
