MEIKO India’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Initiative 2022

    Wave water

Under the mandated CSR initiative as per the local Indian statutory requirements, wherein a small percentage of its accumulated profits in India were to be donated for a charitable cause. After shortlisting a few charitable organisations, team at MEIKO India zeroed in on an organisation i.e., Bharatiya Grameen Mahila Sangh (BGMS) a not-for-profit, non-political and non-sectarian National Organization based in Bangalore. It is affiliated to the Associated Country Women of the world, which in turn is a consultative body for UNO, UNESCO, WHO, ILO. For more details, please visit https://bgmsbangalore.com/index.html

Meiko India was humbled to touch upon 350+ souls wherein we decided to donate an Automatic Chappathi (Indian Bread) making machine setup that included a dough kneader & dough divider besides the chappathi roller & maker.

Under the main organisation BGMS they have undertaken several initiatives / projects for all kinds of underprivileged people mainly focussed on women.

“Anandham” – Home for elderly women
“Shishukunj” – English Medium School for grade 1 – 10
“Santhvana” – Counseling centre for women
“Swadhar” – Short stay home for women
“Parijatha” – Free accommodation for needy college girls
“Kanvashrama” – Destitute home for children

With this new chappathi machine setup it allows BGMS in serving 350+ people at its Bangalore centre more easily for their meals, which otherwise was a huge task over a few hours every day for the people working in the kitchen when the whole exercise was done manually. We sincerely hope the prayers & blessings by all the residing kids and elderly people will help Meiko India do more in the years to come, than what we could achieve in the last few years.

What is CSR rule in India? The rules under Section 135 of Companies Act, 2013 requires companies with certain net worth, turnover or profitability during the immediately preceding financial years, to spend two percent of their average net profit for the past three years on CSR activities.
